Brittany Ferries Alert Service

Get notified when ferry space becomes available for your trip

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 4 March 2026

1. Who we are

FerryAlert (“we”, “us”, “our”) is an independent service that monitors Brittany Ferries sailing availability and sends email notifications when space becomes available. FerryAlert is not affiliated with or endorsed by Brittany Ferries.

For privacy enquiries, contact us at: [email protected]

2. What data we collect

We collect only the minimum data needed to run the alert service:

  • Email address — so we can send you alert notifications and provide access to manage your alerts.
  • Alert preferences — the route, date, passenger numbers, and vehicle type you specify when creating an alert. This is necessary to monitor the correct sailing.
  • Alert activity — when your alert was created, its current status (active, paused, cancelled), and when notifications were sent.

We do not collect payment card details, physical addresses, or phone numbers.

3. How we use your data

Your data is used solely to:

  • Monitor the Brittany Ferries sailing you specified for available space.
  • Send you an email notification when space matching your criteria becomes available.
  • Allow you to view, edit, pause, or cancel your alerts.
  • Authenticate you securely via email magic links (we do not use passwords).

We do not use your data for marketing, profiling, or any purpose other than operating the alert service.

4. Legal basis for processing (UK GDPR)

We process your data on the basis of:

  • Contract performance — processing your email address and alert preferences is necessary to deliver the alert service you've requested.
  • Legitimate interests — retaining basic service logs to maintain system security and reliability.

5. Third parties

We share data with the following third parties only where necessary:

  • Amazon Web Services (AWS) — our infrastructure provider. Data is stored and processed within the EU (Ireland region). AWS is bound by standard contractual clauses.
  • Amazon SES — used to deliver notification emails to you.
  • Brittany Ferries — we query their public availability API to check sailing space. We send your alert criteria (route, date, vehicle type) as part of this check, but do not share your email address with them.

We do not sell your data to any third party. We do not use advertising networks or analytics trackers.

6. Data retention

We retain your email address and alert data for as long as you have active or paused alerts. Once all your alerts are cancelled, your data is retained for a further 90 days to allow you to recover access, after which it is deleted.

You can request immediate deletion of your data at any time by emailing [email protected].

7. Cookies and tracking

FerryAlert uses a single session cookie to keep you authenticated when you log in. This cookie is strictly necessary for the service to function and does not track you across other websites.

We do not use analytics cookies, advertising cookies, or any third-party trackers.

8. Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to: access the personal data we hold about you; correct inaccurate data; request deletion of your data; restrict or object to processing; and data portability.

To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

9. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the “last updated” date above. Continued use of FerryAlert after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
